Laurel Care Home is Going Digital
Welcome to Laurel Care Home! We are a nursing home based on the edge of the beautiful New Forest in Hampshire. Since opening our doors in 1982 we have continuously adapted to the ever-changing landscape of the care sector. We’ve spent the last 39 years learning as much as we can about our resident’s experiences, conditions and needs to provide the best care possible. The fruits of our labour have allowed us to become the multi-service care home we are today, offering excellent and holistic residential, nursing, respite and palliative care to as many as 60 residents.
Fast forward to 2021, we have tackled the biggest global pandemic in living memory, all with our ‘sharing family care’ ethos still at the forefront of our culture. There has been plenty of lessons learned in the past year. Most of those lessons have been about people and relationships, how much we miss a simple hug from someone close, a smile and some spontaneity. For us, it is our team of highly trained nurses, with their 150+ years of experience between them, and our excellent staff members across every facet of the home that have helped us weather out the storm and look forward to a brighter future.
Social Media & Email
As COVID-19 is likely to have changed the world forever, Laurel Care Home must continue to adapt as it always has. We are working on a new digital strategy that allows us to increase the efficiency of our communication channels with our residents and their families. We have now launched our social media channels with the goal of creating a regular email newsletter. Our mission is to provide our residents and their families with all the information they need at the touch of a button. We want to make it easier for you to be able to check what your loved ones are up to and are as happy as they can be whilst juggling your busy schedules with regular social media content. Whilst we always hope there’s always only ever smiles and fun to share with you, we will also use these platforms to communicate important information and updates that affect our home, our residents and their families. Our newsletter will provide you with everything you need to know when it comes to our care and our home. Such as the events we will be running when it’s safe to do so. We want to be back to organising fun days out for our residents and of course, bringing back the annual Laurel Care Home Summer fete.
Video Call & Streaming Services
The use of services like Zoom, Facetime and other video calling platforms have been a huge aspect of our lives in the last year and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. We have already invested in a range of tablets for our residents to use in the comfort, privacy and safety of their own room to see their families and browse the internet if they wish. This level of digital integration is something we will be developing over the coming years and we hope to one day facilitate our residents having the option for subscriptions to entertainment streaming services such as Netflix if they wish. Eventually, we would like to be able to offer our residents workshops on how to use the internet, social media and streaming services safely.
In order to implement this next step for Laurel Care Home, we will need the support and understanding of all our residents and their families in this transition. You can show your support immediately by liking, sharing, following and leaving a review of our new social media accounts (linked below). And as always, recommending our services to your friends and family that need expert care in a happy and homely environment will help us continue the growth of our home and our care.
